This could get confusing so please be patient with me. My GGrandmother was one Harriet Holmes. On her Marriage Cert it gives her Fathers name as George Holmes and her age as 21 years. (ohhh how i wish it gave mothers name too) I have found her death in 1941 aged 73 years. Looking back I think i have finnally found her birth in 1864. It states that she was born in Union Workhouse Leytonstone her mothers name is Lydia Holmes. Now this is where the confusion sets in there is no fathers name on the birth Cert. I have found Harriet on the 1881 census living with her Aunt Harriet Ladell and uncle Robert Ladell in Norfolk. So I ordered there marriage cert to see if George Holmes was Harriett Ladells father (thinking that prehaps Lydia never married and that the George on my ggrandmothers marriage cert was her granfather) WRONG fathers name was William. So now I am stuck i am not sure i have the right harriet now (birth Cert) and if i have WHO is George Holmes mentioned in her marriage Cert??? CAN ANYONE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for being so long winded.
