Where do I start?

I have my grandfathers' marriage cert.(Ireland)his age is given as "Full" meaning over 21. I know his dads' name but not his mothers'. Can anyone tell me how i go about getting his birth cert. Thank you Tricia

Try logging onto the public record office online, i have gone back 200 years using two websites. find the details at my website findmyancestors.co.uk Regards Paul

It is most unlikely that you will find details of an Irish marriage on an English site, except for somwhere like GC. They were separate registers from England and Wales. Your best bet may be:- 1. A Film from the local LDS - if the marriage was after 1864 when Irish Records became compulsory. 2. A thread on an Irish connected genealogy board 3. A check with the Public Record Office in Belfast - type PRONI into your address bar and it should give you the home page. 4. A check with the Records Office in Dublin - I think there is a link from the PRONI site, but not sure. 5. Contact with the local Parish if you have it. 6. Again through PRONI you may be able to check the Church Recirds for that area. A lot of people now seem to be visiting PRONI personally, either by using cheap flights or the various sea crossings. Worth a thought if it is feasible. Paul
