where in scotland

My GGranddad was born in Scotland in c1890, came to London in c1909. I know his father's name. So what is the best place for me to find where he is born etc? Will 1901 Scotland census help me? The family thinks they came from west scotland. Thanks Valerie

hi valerie you could try for his birth cert on this site www(.) scotlandspeople(.)gov(.)uk its a great site will cost you £6for 48 hours access but well worth the money, you canview the images on-line , they also have the 1901 census hope this helps you , cheers jackie.
