Writing to Canada

Zoe: When I write back home (Canada) it can take up to one week to reach my relatives. When I write to England it can take up to 1 1/2 weeks. Normal delivery time - 3 days for Canada, 5(ish) for England. So, don't be disappointed if you don't hear anything during the first two weeks. Good luck! Hope you have lots of answers!

James is correct. I used to do that years ago, when I started researching. People always thanked me for doing it; never had anyone be upset about the extra effort on their part. Good luck!

Zoe, I am not 100% certain, but I recall from somewhere towards the back of my mind that you can get something called an International reply coupon. I believe you buy these from your local post office and send them along with your letter. As I understand it the person you have written to can then take the coupon to their local post office and exchange it for their local stamps. I think this is how it works but dont quote me on it!

I've been given a tip off this morning that some of my family emigrated to Canada. I've collated some adresses in Ontario for several people of the right surname. Normally (when writing in England) I'd enclose an SAE for replies - whats the etiquette for writing to somewhere I can't give them a stamp??
