I have 1 who is listed on his children's birth certificates and the 1891 census on the 1901 census his wife is down as a widow. 1 son aged 11 in 1891 is 18 in 1901. the wife was 47 in 1891 and 67 in1901 (they aged quickly in those days). Well the problem is I cannot find birth, marriage or death records for him. Tried the wife's maiden name for marriage details no luck, tried putting in various spellings for both no luck. The place of marriage and date is on the birth certificates the year being different on each of them. I have tried Statutory records and parish records for the county and parishes (his and hers) also tried all counties and all parishes to no avail. They obviously popped down from on high had there children and popped back up again from somewhere in outer space that is my conclusion. Do I give up or continue like you have done until they are found. I have decided I have no patience. Pat

I have found my ggg grandparents marriage in the church records but I have not been able to find it in the indexing in London. Just because we can't find it doesn't mean they didn't marry. I still have a couple I need to find and until then I can't get back any further. One day when they have all the church record transcribed maybe we will find them but until then we can just hope. I was talking to someone the other day about genealogy who threw this little gem in the conversation. Had heard about a clergyman who was so half soaped that he often forgot to fill in the church register after conducting a wedding. Whether he ever filled in the church register isn't known or how many were never recorded. Don't know if there were any repercussions!!!

Hi Rachel It is definitely possible they married after the birth of their first child - or even later. This has happened a couple of times in my tree. Jeanette

I am looking for the marriage of Ann Vigar to Joseph Naish. These names appear on the birth certificate of their son in 1867, and again on the 1881 census as Ann & Joseph Naish. I can't find their marriage recorded anywhere, and have started from the date when Ann would have been 16. Is it possible that they married after the first child was born? If anyone has any advice I would be extremely grateful. I have easy access to the FRC in Angel if needs be. Thanks!
