I have found this site today .It gives you the 1837 -1983 civil registeration for england. Found info about my family which I could only find if iI paid.

Hi folks sorry about not giving you the address,but grandson decided that he press the keys. The site is ancestry (.)com go to site and put in name you want to look for .when found click on to civil registeration 1837-1983 and it wilgive details for that name. click on name and it will give registeration details ie name ,record type, age, quarter, year district,county volume and page. scroll untill you find your ancestors good hunting jackie

Hi Jackie, I was under the impression that Ancestry sources its information from FreeBMD, so unfortunately we won't find anything different. As FreeBMD add to their site, so will Ancestry. However, Ancestry do have the death indexes 1984-2002, but of course you have to subscribe for access. Best wishes, Carole

What Carole says is correct. Ancestry use the data on FreeBMD but it can sometimes be quicker than FreeBMD as they have the cash coming in to support their systems, whereas FreeBMD is run on a shoe string. Nesta
