Thanks everyone. The Henderson Bostwick company seems promising, although they don't seem to have an internet presence. A cousin (whom I never met, and is now deceased) got a helpful reply from them in the 1960s or 1970s, but I don't know what information he had in the first place to prompt his enquiry.

National Archives at Kew have all the company records that exist but many have ben destroyed so it just depends how lucky you are in this respect. Try the online Procat site to see if you can get any info that way. I had a company record there destoyed just 6 months before I got to look at it! Janet

If you put Bostwick door company into google it comes up with Henderson-Bostwick Industrial Doors which is still in business. They might be able to tell you whether they have any connection to the company you are after.

Up to the 1970s there was a company called the Bostwick Door Company, which may have had some connection to my family. I believe that they were then taken over, so there may now be a company that has records of the previous firm. Does anyone know how I could trace what happened to such a company that existed at some stage in the past?
