I am trying to find a marriage on 1837 online. It is a 2nd marriage for my grandmother. Should I be searching for her maiden name or her previous married name. It is proving more difficult than I thought. Many thanks. Marion

Hi Marion, I think you should be searching for her previous married name. Tracey

Thanks Tracy, I thought I'd struck gold straight away with her husband but alas she is nowhere to be seen. Back to the drawing board!!!

Forgive me for overstating the obvious but have you tried FreeBMD to cross reference and avoid using more 1837 credits than necessary?

Thanks for that Tracey but unfortunately BMD have only just started transcribing the marriages for that year. It's pricking my conscience again that I ought to volunteer to do some of the transcribing. I shall have to be brave and give it a go!! Marion

I know what you mean, I ought to do it too.

Go on!! Join us transcibers. If I can do it, anyone can. Once you have started, it becomes addictive. So beware!!! Nesta
