Does anyone know how I'm surposed to find out births, I seem to be able to find marriages, I send off for the marriage certs which gives me a year they were born but can't send off for birth cert as I haven't got exact date? any ideas?

Tracey, How far back have you gotten? If you can let us know dates for the marriages you have we can give you some tips on the best way to search for births Zoe

Hi Zoe, I've gone back to 1804 with marriages, but need births from 1871 back to 1813.

Hi Tracey, You could use information from census returns which give the ages of people and the place they were born, work out the year of birth, then use freebmd or 1841 on line to find the births. Beware though, allow a few years (3-5) either way as ages on censuses are not always correct. Rosemary(Essex)
