There should be probate or a will from 1949 from Charles Castle ( got his obit notice) I know he had a son Robert C and dau Irene (married a LAMBERT during WW2) How do I get BMD certs and wills information at this distance? Sheila, What are the names and ages of the living rellies? You can look up deaths here: http://www.cyberdriveillinois(.)com/GenealogyMWeb/idphdeathsrch.html Crista

Thanks Crista that was great. Have found the 2 deaths ie John & Charles CASTLE 1923 & 1949. How do I pay from here?? or am I being dumb? needs $10 for each cert. have printed out the application form. John CASTLE was married to Annie E and had Marjorie b 1917 and another unknown child obviously born before 1923 Charles & Ethel M had Irene E b 1917 ( from censuses)(she married a LAMBERT WW2, mum used to write to her) and Robert C b 1921. I don;t know the wives maiden names but mum says they followed the "boys" out from England. I see that you cannot get the Married certs these is that right? Thank again for the help and look forward to thanking you again! Sheila

Hi Sheila, There's this too: http://www.idph.state.il.us/vital/vitalhome.htm Looks like they don't take credit cards so you would have to get a cheque issued in dollars. Crista

To find living relatives in the US you can also try: www.ussearch(.)com Initial search is free and they charge a small sliding scale fee for more information,; fee depending on how much information you want. Before paying the fee though, after doing initial search, using the information obtained from site above, you can check to see if they are listed in the public telephone and address directory and obtain the information for free at: www.switchboard(.)com If you have an address, if the person has a publicly listed telephone number, you can find out who lives at a particular address by doing a "reverse address" look up at: http://www(.)reverseaddress(.)com US deaths can be looked up in the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) at no charge at: http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb(.)com/ Copies of the original Social Security application the person filled out can be obtained as well and that would supply you with more genealogy information. Remember to remove the ( ) from the addresses above. Judy
