I have come across a real brickwall and would like some advice about where I can try to find the information I need. I am trying to trace a Kathleen Maria McRae, but I have very limited information. What I need is information on her birth so I can confirm when she was born and get information about the rest of her family. All I have at present is what I've found from the 1901 census and her marriage certificate but can't find any information prior to that. She was born c 1875 in London, and married a George William Hancock in 1894 in Surrey. Kathleen's father was a John McRae who was a farmer. I do have an address for Kathleen before her marriage which is 30 South Road, South Wimbledon, Surrey. I haven't been able to trace this address on a census, and I can't find records of her birth anywhere. Even though the 1901 census said she was born in London, I've even tried looking on the Scottish websites but with no luck. I've tried different spellings of the surname and have still had no joy. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be really grateful. Thanks, Liz |
