is anyone else having the frustrating problem I am having....after a search, I can't click on the back arrow that used to take me back to the previous page so I could change a spelling or chang a name. I now get 'page expired'. If I click on ' Revise query' it takes me back but clears names, dates and regions so I have to start again. Any suggestions please. Sue

Sue, go into the Tools, and then Internet options and where it says temporary internet files, delete the cookies and files, may take a whilst to get rid of the files. Ros

It's better to click the 'Refine Search' button, as that takes you back and re-instates what you'd previously entered so you can change it. If you accidentally press 'back' instead, press 'forward' and then 'Refine Search' - it seems to remember what you'd searched for then.

thank you all for the advice.....Simon, there is no 'Refine Search' on FreeBMD....they have Revise Query which used to take me back to the first screen with the names, dates and places as did the back arrow, but now it just clears the boxes and the refresh button doesn't help. It's not a huge problem but I will try some suggestions. thanks again Sue

Sorry Sue - I meant to say 'Revise Query'. This has always worked for me (and still does) - I didn't realise its function was affected by temp files so what others have said must be right. Simon

Thank you people ....THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH :) It's not often I encounter a problem that I can't solve .... but this very same problem has been getting on my pecks since I began frequenting the family history search sites. In the beginning all was fine..... then obviously as I clogged up my Temp Internet files, my back button facility stopped working too! I've had the proverbial clear out of cookies and temp internet files and PAISE BE .....THANK YOU ! It's all working fine again. Cheers guys :) One very happy researcher Sioux

So as not to clog this thread up, I will post directions on different thread for emptying cookies and temp files.....Also directions for settings that need to be changed having to do with website errors and emptying Temporary Internet files when browser is closed.
