That Family Search get it so wrong, I have just looked for a christening on there it came up with 28th June 1846 when in fact I know that she was born in 1844, would the actual date be right just the wrong year? Sue...............

Hiya Sue I wouldn't take any of it as definite. Just use it as a guide. Always best to check with the parish register. Jeanette

1) it could be a transciption error. youll have to look at the orginal parish register to check. 2) could have been baptised late. a 2 year gap is not unusual as you might think. 3) its a completly different person to who you are looking for. remember the IGI and VRI are not complete

Sue Could it be she was born in 1844, but not christened until 1846? Lynda

Perhaps the parents had 2 children and the first one died and they gave the second child the same name but only one christening is shown on the I.g.i? KIM

Some peole waited until they had a 'batch' and then Christened them altogether. It was cheaper that way. Rosi

I have to admit the IGI has really confused me at times. The dates don't match up and the place names leave me bewildered at times. I check with ancestry bmd and I'm more bewildered than ever. I've been checking through my names and wondering if I'm following the right family when there are so many differences and when there's a name like SMITH to sort out doesn't help much either. Thank goodness there's always someone out there to help me put things right ! Mary Brooke
