I have had the occupation of tinsman turn up. In all other records he was a jeweller. Does anyone know what a Tinsman was (1971 census). Georgina

Georgina, A tinman is a tinsmith or a tinker (travelling repairman). Two sites I have found for old occupations are: www(.)cpcug.()org/user/jlacombe/terms(.)html www(.)rmhh(.)co(.)uk/occup As usual remove the (). Grahame

Hi Georgina - I agree with Geoff. I had a relative who was a whitesmith (a galvaniser), who was also known as a tinman. Rick.
