Hi, I have several families who baptised one child when the mother was expecting the next so some baptisms are only a few months apart. The census will tell you about how long the age gap is if you can find them there. Gwynne

Helen, Yes they are from hindon. they are prob the ones on vri. but hindon is a tiny place. it be a bit confusing if different parents.

I'm guessing these are the baptisms on my VRI CD shown as Hindon? There are three occasions when less than 9 months has passed between the christenings and my guess would be two sets of parents. I think if they were short of cash and had delayed a baptism, they would have had both children 'done' together when the new baby arrived maybe.

Don't know how to answer your question, but a lot of my ancestors' siblings were baptised about 2 or 3 months after birth. I've found a few that were baptised within a day or two of birth and those are the ones that I've found in the burial registrars, having died shortly after birth. Be interesting to see what others think. PS I ordered my family's records from their church (did cost quite a bit to do that, however). Could you perhaps do the same?

I have come to a bit of a puzzle. I have found a Marriage of my ancestor Joseph Norton to Elisabeth Ford in East Knoyle Wilts 1749. they then had (maybe) 15 kids baptised in the same parish but 2 of them were done in the same year a few months apart. were they A) twins and the parents could not afford to have them baptised together so did them separatly. B) the first child was baptised quite a few months after birth and in between the mother concieved again and then this child was baptised straight away. C) two sets of parents with the same names living in a small village at the same time. your votes please a b or c
