Thankyou Barry Pam and Max............ How's the photography going Mike? thanks for that suggestion. Christine, I did try that site but could not find it. Jeanette, pleased you are back on line, you are a big help for Yorkshire questions, please ask your grandad, I bet he will know. Looking at the birth certificate again it could be Rullyman, if your suggestion is right, I hope he washed his hands ........... Sue. |

Hiya Sue Just got back online tonight and read through my emials so will reply to yours tomorrow when I've got a bit more time. Could it be Rullyman? Now I remember my Grandad telling me something about Rullies being pulled by horses. If I remember correctly they came round collecting 'waste matter' before the invention of flush toilets. Not sure if they collected household refuse too. If you think it's a possibility I can ask Grandad next time I speak to him. Jeanette |

Closest I can find is Birlyman who was a Scottish officer or Parish Arbiter (whatever that is) or Billyman who operated a billy roller used to prepare cotton for spinning. Pam |
