Hi jane and david, thank you both for the advice. Jane i have the front and back pages of his attestation papers now all i need is the meat in the sandwich lol. davis as far as i know his son who was born 8 months before he died was born in england,he is on the cwgc but not much info on there other than it says nationality-canadian. thanks kaz

Hi Rus & Kas Was he aCanadian Citizen or still British was he still serving in the Canadian forces, did he die in service, had he returned to Britian to live when he died. Try these sites Commonwealth War Graves Commision www(.)cwgc(.)org or www(.)army(.)mod(.)uk Remove brackets.

Kaz, You should be able to find at least the front and back pages of his 'Attestation Papers' online, in the National Archives in Canada. Website is www.archives(.)ca (remove brackets). Typically, these papers contain everything about your man as he signed up - physical description, next of kin/family - and can often tell you in which theatres of war he served. Certainly, the UK versions do. However, getting hold of the full set, as a paper copy, proves a little more difficult if you are UK based! Let me know if you find a way! Happy Hunting. Jane

Hi, i am hoping someone may be able to give me some advice this is my question---My G/grandfather was born in england and went to canada in 1910, in 1915 he enlisted in the canadian overseas expeditionary force,he died in 1919 and is buried in england,who do i apply to for his service record,do i apply to the canadian mod or do i apply to our mod. any help welcome thanks kaz
