If it was the first world war then the very best place to find him is at the GRO KEW. You will need to ring to find out about their very strict rules. Ernest

If your grandfather fought in the 2nd world war, then his records are still held by the MOD. You have to prove that you are a next of kin, they will then require a £25-00 release fee. The address is The Aemy Personnel Centre, Historical Disclosures, Mailpoint 400, Kentigern House,65 Brown Street, Glasgow G2 8 EX. Expect a very long wait for this service. Good luck; Ernest P

Hi, I have my great grandfather's marriage certificate, it has the number 132154, he was a gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery and fought in the great war. Where would I be able to find his military records? Lucia
