Evening All, Received some certs this morning and just updating my notes. One of the marriage certs give an occupation of my GG Grandfather as Silk Do--ser. It lools like a g then an l. Any ideas? Thanks Naomi |

Hi Tracey, It could be a silk doubler. It's quite hard to read. Do you know what a sild doubler did? Naomi |

A silk doubler operates a machine that twists together strands of silk to make a yarn. A cotton doubler does the same with cotton. The name today usually refers to the machine and not the operator. John |

Thanks John, On closer inspection though it doesn't look like it can be doubler. Definitely looks more like a "g" than a "b" Naomi |
