today i got copies of 2 marriage entries in parish records from the SOG of my ancestors and there is somthing intrinsicly pleasing about seeing their signtures. I have been getting copies of BMD certs up until now which are transcipts of the originals, so seeing a 200 year old signeture for the first time has spurred me on even more to get back as far as i can.

Hi Kevin, Have to agree, I also have a couple of parish marr certs, and several parish baptisms, instead of birth certs. There's something quite endearing about them, don't you think? Debbie

I didn't know one could get copies...how, please?...but I agree I like looking at parish records on microfilms....and the witnesses are very revealing sometimes....but copies would be fantastic. Joan

Lucky you. My ancestors have all "made their mark" ie signed with an X. Not much intrinsically pleasing about that!! Della

When you veiw any thing on micro film there is usually a special micro film machine in the same place from which you can get a copy made. I have done this for Census returns, wills and parish registers at the Family Record Center, Society of Genealogists and The National Archives

All local records offices have these machines, photocopies could cost from .25p - .75p. Irene
