hi today mum was talking about her great aunt nina (pronounced ninea) i cannot find any info about this aunt, she was born c1880, to james rowbottom and possibly jane hearn (his second wife), although i cannot find anything to prove this, is nina a nick name, what else could she be called, any help would be great, marcie x

I have a relation who was known as Nina. Her real name, however, was Ellen. Hope this helps.

The website www.behindthename.com is a good reference for names and origins.It says Nina is spanish name for little girl or a short form of any name ending in "nina" KIM
