Hi David, As far as I'm aware you have got it right unless she had been married before and then it would be her surname at the time. Gen

Hi Gen Thanks for that i must have to extend my search i'm guessing at the dates useing childrens birth dates as a guide, would have expected them to have got married about a year or so before the first child was born, i don't think she was married before but it's possible if so that will make my task doubley difficult Thanks again David

David have you thought about looking earlier, I have a couple of relatives that had their first three children die and I was looking for their marriages far later than I should have been, it's just a thought. Gen

Hi David, Have you tried searching freebmd? If you find one on there and click on the page number it shows you the others on the page. If you can find them on there you just need to double check the reference next time your at the FHC. Just an idea, hope it helps, Rebecca

Hi David, don't like to throw a spanner in the works but have you ever thought they may not have been married at all, my nan and grandad were both married to different people, and never actually got married to each other, but that didn't stop them from going on to have 3 childern together. Sorry it was just a thought. April.

David To throw another spanner in the works, even the GRO indexes aren't 100% perfect. I found my great-grandparents' marriage indexed under him, but not cross referenced with her. She wasn't listed at all. Thankfully I had the date and he was the only possibility indexed for that quarter, so I took a chance and got lucky. Carole
