Thanks for your comments I will probably look into this a bit more just in case I have missed something.

I agree with Ann there is a STRONG possibilty this is the right one but I would follow Ann's suggestion just to be sure. With regard to middle names often these were not family names but chosen by the godmother. I have 3 christian names none of which are family names. The first chosen by my father the second very unusual chosen by my mother the third chosen by my godmother. I think it was one of the perks of being a godmother to chose a name.

Personally I think you have enough 'coincidences' with an unusual name to be fairly confident you have the right one. To be on the safe side - are there any others with these names who you could have got confused with? It was common to give the mother's maiden name as a middle name for a child, although that doesn't explain the other names for Amelia. Have you thought that there could be two Harriets, or that she could have been married before? Anne

Just wondered if I could have your thoughts and comments please on the following. Hopefully I havn't made it sound to complicated. My great grandmother was Amelia Mary Ann Charlick (as shown on my grandmothers birth certificate and Amelias marriage certificate). According to info given on 1901 and 1881 census she would have been born in 1859/1860 in Lambeth. I have found a birth certifcate of an Amelia Littlewood ?Charlick born in March 1859 in Lambeth her father is Henry occupation Hatter and her mother Harriet nee Walker. I then have a marriage certificate of Henry Charlick Occupation hatter and a Harriet Louisa Littlewood married in January 1860 having a least four children after this date. One being a daughter Catherine and on the marriage certificate of Amelia one of the witnesses is given as Catherine Charlick although she would have been only 13 or 14 at the time, is that too young to be a witness at a wedding. I am thinking that Amelia was illegitmate and her parents lied about the fact they weren't married, Littlewood was given as a middle name rather than mothers maiden name, where walker came from have no idea. Sorry if this is a bit long winded but have been mulling this over for a while now and don't know whether to go with this information or keep looking. Many thanks Jill
