Hi Diane The latest census is the 1901 census. The 1911 census will be out in 2012, as there is a 100 year rule on all census'. You will probably have to look at parish registers for the area. Happy hunting!! Sarah.

If you have the time and money look on 1837(.)com unless you can get to London. You can check the birth from mid 1911 all births will have the mothers maiden name so you could be abt 95% sure they would be family, unless you have two brothers marrying two sisters. If you find one skip the next two qtr unlikely to have another in 6-9 months. Just hope its not a common name. Don't forget to save the pages, may come in useful later. Irene

Irene and Diane You dont need to go to London to view the GRO indexes. They are all available on microfiche at most main libraries, county record offices and LDS centres. If everyone had to converge on London to get information then we would be queing round the block to get in Margaret

Before legging it to you County Records office, check that they have the GRO indexes. Couple of weeks ago I went to the County Records office in Lewes, East Sussex [not a great distance - took longer to find a parking space than the drive] only to find they DO NOT have the GRO indexes. These are all held at the Brighton Record Office, which is much nearer to where I live [but an even greater pig to park!]. Also some of the reference libraries indexes are often not fully up to date, so a phone call first can pay dividends in unwasted time and effort. Badger Bill
