Where can I find details about BMD in Scotland and Ireland. According to family history one of my rellies was born in Scotland but married an Irish ladies maid and as I can't find details for either I have to look elsewhere? Any ideas?

Irish BMD records did not start along the same lines as England and Wales until 1864, although non-catholic marriages were recorded from 1845. Your Local LDS centre should be able to obtain films for you, but you would need to be sure of dates, areas, names etc. Paul

Scottish BMD's can be downloaded and printed on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It's a pay to view site but well worth the money. For £6 you can search for 48 hours. That will give you 30 credits - one certificate = 5 credits. Regards Margaret
