That's great!!! But beware she may not want contact especially if she hasn't told her new family about the previous one!! Also shock, guilt and fear play a part too. If contact rejected any innocent snippets of info gleaned can be really useful and it really helped a friend as together with other info it led to their eventual reconciliation. Good Luck - the people I've dealt with at Traceline were lovely

Julie Thanks for that, I'm trying to find my gran but am really stuck because she was last heard of in the 1950's and I think that she's remarried since. I'll give them a ring and see what they say. Rachel I've just given them a ring, a really helpful lady took a note of my details and is gonna send me a form to fill in. The fee is now £30 (non-refundable) plus an addition fee of £25ish if they find the person you are looking for. Really nervous now...

This is a service offered by the Governments Department of National Statistics to find living relatives but cannot be used in relation to an adoption. They get very busy and it takes quite awhile. If I remember correctly they trace people by the NHS No and if located they offer to send a letter to the person involved. The person sought can choose whether or not to receive the letter. There is a fee. It was £27.50 - (4 years ago) and I can't remember if we had to pay another fee on top. The details are:- TRACELINE PO BOX 106 SOUTHPORT PR8 2WA Tel: 0151 471 4811 Fax: 01704 563354 Hope this helps
