These are the index dates (copying to notepads a good idea) Births 1837 - 1911, child’s surname and first names only. September Quarter 1911 onwards, child’s surname, first names and mother’s maiden name. Marriages 1837 - 1911, there are two entries, one for each spouse individually. You can check who married whom by seeing whether the volume and Office numbers are the same. March Quarter 1912 onwards, there are two entries, and the surname of the partner appears in each . Deaths 1837 - 1865, names only. March Quarter 1866 - March Quarter 1969, the age at death is given. After this the date of birth is shown, usual address place of birth and maiden name of a married women (but info not always accurate) Bob

Yep thats right Tracey, September of 1911 birth indexes contained mothers maiden name.

Does anyone know when the mother's name was added to the birth information available on microfiche. I think it may have been in the later 1800's but wondered if anyone might have the exact year Thanks in advance Penny
