Mobile Phones - Security Alert

My son sent me this message today. There is a new kind of mobile phone scam. A missed call will show on your mobile phone. The number is 0709 020 3840! The last four numbers may vary, but the first four numbers will remain the same. If you call this number back, you will be charged £50.00 PER MINUTE. People have complained about their phone bills, once they have realised the cost of the call, but apparantly this is completely legal. So BEWARE, do not call back numbers beginning with 0709. I never call back numbers I don't recognise either on the mobile or land line. I figure if its important enough they'll ring back and I've an answerphone as well. My phone bill is high enough as it is ! Mary Brooke |

Have just noticed that someone beat me to it. I don't get on-line untill 6pm at the earliest but I noticed that earlier thread was posted this afternoon. Anyway, best to be alerted I say. I never answer mobile numbers I don't know, same with e-mails that look 'dodgy'. Margaret |

Sorry Folks, but this alert was on last week!!!!!!there is another thread with with this same topic....... the £50 is allegedly a hoax, the maximum is something like £3.00....BUT as has been said DO NOT RING NUMBERS YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH. Bob |
