Family Tree Maker 11.0 is an excellent choice if you want to purchase a program. Genopro, which is free and can be found at www.genopro(.)com. I use both of those. Others on this site suggest the program at the LDS site, which is also free and can be found at www.familysearch(.)org - don't forget to remove the brackets () from the addresses above. Judy

I use the PAF (Personal Ancestral File) from the LDS site, and find it does most things I need it to, and it's easy to use. It's also FREE, so you can start building your tree on it, and if you want to purchase some software later, you can just create a gedcom file and import it into your new program. There's no point in spending money until you have to, is there - you may as well spend it on some certificates!

"Ages" is free and very easy to use and uses gedcom files. However, now I am a bit more experienced (all of 4/5 weeks) I am looking for one with more bells and whistles. Gerry
