Bob, Thanks for that. What would I need to pack? Who would I be safe FROM? The men in the white coats - surely not the genealogy bug though? You're near 53° 48' N, 1° 22' W then? Can you see/hear the "new" M1 from where you are? John

John here's a good reference for you, 57:49:08 N 8:34:24 W it's a little place in the north atlantic called St Kilda. You should be safe there. Bob

Hi All If you have the gro ref, you do not need the date of death, birth or marriage etc. All you need is the district. year, quarter, volume and page. Regards, Siobhan

Hi all, For some strange reason, knowing the date of death, only seems to be a problem with online ordering. If you phone orders for recent deaths, they don't even ask for date of death! Debbie

The bill came today. That means I've got another month to forget about it and then be shocked as to how much I've spent on family history AGAIN this month!

Hello, I was naughty and ordered 10 certs from GRO today. Two of them were for people who had died in the last fifty years. They wanted to know the date of death of the person. As I didn't know this I made up a date in the correct quarter. I did put additional information in "Reference checking" such as date of birth as well as the correct volume and page number etc. Do you think they'll send me the certificates I want or has the police state begun already? I've never had to put the date of death before! Thanks.
