I think I am right in saying that there a couple of people on the boards who have parish records etc for IOW. There is also a good web site www isle-of wight-fhs co uk with lots of info and good links. I left out the "dot" in the address.

Keith, If you find any good IoW websites please let me know. My Corkheads were Langley, Downer, Jacob, Joliffe & Rayner. Jim

Hi Keith, Would you know of any prison records n I of W for 1950s/1960s? I have one Alphonsous Frisby in my tree, who lived there and wasa dentist. He was said to have embezzled the NHS of funds, therefore locked up. At the moment it s only family rumour but I would love to know if its true. Are there any newspaper sites for I of W for that period do you know? Jim

Jim, long time since I heard "Cork Heads!" Not sure if they are yours but Joliffe is a name I would associate with building /painting etc on the Island. They, well some where, very well off. There seems to be alot around Sandown, Shanklin, Luccombe and Bonchurch area.I dont have any family connection with the Island but lived there. I have saved some sites so I will look them up and post it. Are you a Cork Head or Grockle(if I spelt that right!) then?

I may have spelt Grockles wrong! That's what we used to call holiday makers! Wish I was a Cork Head! How brilliant finding a cousin!
