How do I find out if a relative is an immigrant in 19c? Appears to be living in London on 1891 census but can find nothing prior to that..

Does the 1891 census give a place of birth for him? This is usually the best clue.

hi Michael, My relative is named in 1881 census and place of birth says Ireland. I do not know whereabouts in Ireland or when he came here. It is very frustrating.
