Does anyone know how to find lists of passengers for ships coming to Liverpool from Ireland. I can only find lists for america. My gr gr grandfather came from Ireland. his name was John boylan, he was born in 1829. I am hitting a brickwall. Thanks Pauline

Hi Karen. I believe most people fled during the mid-1840's. I have a few ancestors who left before then and I think I remember reading that there were a few "little" potato problems before the great famine (perhaps in the 1830's?). Keep in mind many, many people died during that time, so if you can't find your ancestors' brothers and sisters, they may have died.

Hello Pauline You could try www(.)moving here(.)org(.)uk or another useful site is The National Archives on www(.)pro(.)gov(.)uk/leaflets/Riindex(.)htm it looks at holdings concerning immigration to Britain over the past 600 years. On the same site there is a leaflet on naturalisation. some naturalisation records can be located by doing a surname search in HO144 using PROCAT. Good Luck Shirley
