GEDOM file problem

After successfully uploading my file from my own Family Tree program (GSP), when I now view the various trees and realtionships, for some reason some of the people are incorrectly linked to one another and have been transposed. I have checked, and the original tree in the Family Tree program is correct on my PC. Is this because the GSP program is "cheap and cheerful" or is there another cause? Many thanks to anyone who can shed any light on this, as I don't really fancy keying all the information in manually:(

Mark although GSP are cheap they are usually quite capable, have you tried loading you file into other sites like tribalpages or programs like PAF5 ? GC seems to have problems importing GEDCOM properly. Bob

Thanks for the tip. I have sucessfully imported the same file into Tribalpages and it displays absolutely perfectly on their site, with no errors at all!!! Does this mean that there is an underlying problem with the GEDCOM importing facility on GC, or is it perhaps just me?!

Mark I had this problem with GSP too, so I downloaded the free PAF from the LDS site, created a gedcom on GSP, uploaded it to PAF and uploaded a gedcom file from PAF to the GC site! I tend to use PAF more now, but I can always create a gedcom file and upload it to my GSP program if I want to. Incidentally, I could upload a gedcom from GSP to other sites OK, so presume it's just GC that has the problem.

I've solved the problem!!! My original GSP generated GEDCOM file, when uploaded to GC, would not display a tree, even though the names in the tree were recognised by the site. In addition, if I tried Immediate Family, some of the people were also incorrectly linked. When uploadingthe file, once it got to the prompt to press the button the build the tree, the screen froze Following the advice from Janet, I tried uploading the same file to TribalPages. There it displayed absolutely fine, with no errors. I then exported a GEDCOM file from TribalPages back to my desktop and then, after clearing the original tree in GC, I uploaded this file. The GC Tree now seems to work fine is is 100% accurate!!! Many thanks for your help and advice Janet. Hope GC Tech dept can sort this glitch out for other users.
