Hi Where was Thomas born and what is the name, age and place of birth of his sister on the 1901 census. I have had a quick look on 1891 and cannot see them yet. Sharon

Many Thanks for your suggestions. My Grandad was Thomas Bayliss, b 23/10/1877. on his birth cert his parents are Emma B. nee Gosling. On 1901 census she is with her daughter and family. I see she was born in Peckham in 1840. There are 2! His father was George Lawrence Bayliss. Grandad had sister Louisa & brother Alf. There is no record of marriage at FRC! and an elderly family member says they were not Roman Catholic. Any and all help GREATLY appreciated. Jim

I am sure that Bayliss may have been mispelt in the census's. If you would like to give us their first names and dates of birth, may be one of us can still find them? I often search 1881 just with age, first name and place of birth. That throws up a list of possibles, which you can scan until you find the variant surname.

Hi Jim If you leave full details of the names and ages you have for your Bayliss family maybe someone will be able to find them for you. Regards Sharon

Can anybody suggest where I can look for people that have 'disappeared'. Namely Bayliss from Camberwell. I have my Grandfathers B Cert with his parents name on it. He was b 1877. I cannot find any family at all in 1871/81/91 census. 1901 only shows his Mother living with his sister (B 1875) and family. I have checked Boer War records, Baptism records for Camberwell, (many churches there!) I cannot find his parents marriage at FRC either. His army record was among those 'burnt'. Any suggestions greatfully received. Jim Jones
