It is little (.)comical and also amazing that something so normal to any web site as links to other (.)com or (.)co(.)uk sites is not allowed here. I wonder (.)could it be because they dont want us being (.)coerced into leaving. I wonder if they even block links to their own web site - let's try it www.genesconnected.co.uk (they do!) :-) Diane.

Bob - I take the approach of 'better safe than sorry' - would rather overuse the brackets than miss out a vital one! GC definitely know about the problem as it was raised at the Guildford meet in December, seems to be taking a long time to solve though ..... Maz. XX

I Noticed once I typed a sentence beginning with the word Could after a full stop and they wiped the full stop and the could and it made the sentence sound very rude when I read it back. kim

Probably easier to do blanket wipe-out than leave the useful stuff in. Damned nuisance though. Means I have to go back and check what URLs I type in actually get displayed. And of course it means that we have to join GC to mail others direct (if GC ever deliver it)! Pauline

This baffles me, if GC observed whats happening they should know that these links are the bread and butter of their trade. In particular on the tips board we seek help from all sources including other sites but we are doing it via GC, whats the problem? Bob

For some reason (best known to themselves) GC will not allow us to type a d ot followed by c o anywhere on the boards (you can't type d ot either). This means that we have to put brackets round the dot but many people are putting brackets round all the dots which isn't neccessary. The ONLY d ot you need to bracket is the one before a c o. eg: http://www.genesconnected(.)co.uk/genesconnected.ASP?WCI=bbadd&calling_form=threadedboard&bb_type=B&surname=&bb_key=-8 Only a Genealogist regards a step backwards as progress
