HELP wanted with marriage records

I am trying to find a marriage date. I have what I think is the correct entry for male ancestor, so try and find similar date entry for his bride (to double check). However, although I think I have the correct one, the registration area is different. Can anyone tell me if brides and grooms are registered in the same registration district or their own parish district. In other words, have I got my bride and groom, or am I trying to match up two entirely wrong people??

Hi, They should match exactly. But even then you cannot be sure as there is more than one marriage per page in the registers. Gwynne

Can you confirm from where you got the records? FreeBMD is yet another step where someone could have entered the wrong district if the page nos match up. try ukbmd to see if there is a county-level record for the pair which match better. Pauline
