Jeanette The 1851 isn't searchable by name, not that I know about anyway. But if you have an address I'll look it up for you. Also have the London 1861 and 71 if thats a help. Lynda |

Thanks everyone for answering my query. London just seems so confusing to me! Lynda Is your 1851 census searchable by name? If it is, could you take a look for my 2x great Grandfather for me to see if he's there. This is what I know. Frederick William Lock born c1838 Greenwich, Kent (he changed this to Ridge, Herts in 1881 and 1901 which is where he was living). His age is constant throughout though. I know it's not much to go on with such a common name, but anything would be better than nothing. Thanks Jeanette |

And just to confuse things, it is on the Kent census returns at least until 1871. I believe that it was taken into the London census area in/after 1891. Research for Greenwich is covered by the North West Kent family history society. Pauline |

Stepney is on the other side of the Thames from Greenwich - not even bordering the river. Maz. XX |

Can anybody tell me where Greenwich is? What is it known as these days? Is Stepney is this area? Thanks Jeanette |
