I've only just started researching my family tree a couple of weeks ago, so am very new to all this. How do I find information on a family after 1901? My relatives come from Devon and Surrey and although I've managed to trace family members on the 1901 census I'd like to follow up what happened after that point, and hopefully find some living relatives to be able to contact. Do I need to go to the libraries in Devon and Surrey and go through the records held there or is there any other way of doing this as I live miles and miles away from both of these places? For one part of the family there were about 12 children so I'd be keen to trace what happened to them, but I have no specific dates of birth, and no known married names. I've trawled through the 1837 website to find approx details but would like to know for sure all of these 12 names were the children of my relations as at present it's a fair bit of guess work. Any advice on this would be brilliant. Thanks.

Elizabeth Like you I am new (about 3 weeks). I have found 1837 online and the Morman's site www.familysearch.org very good. Have found address searces of census invaluable, especially in one case a copy of the actual return. The name I was looking for had been wrongly transcribed! The other bril help is from these message boards. People are so helpful Gerry
