If it is any help, I found out last night that my grandfathers birth was not registered until just before he got married!

Hi Julie, Don't take as gospel the age on the marriage certificate. A great many people for some reason or another do not put their correct age when they marry. I would try again 5 years either way of the date you have got and use alternative spellings. Mary

His name was William Queen, he was born 1886-1887. His father's name was James Queen and his mother's name was Susan Queen. The family are from scotland and all from the same area. Could it be possible that the birth entry has been destroyed somehow?

I've worked out the year of birth for my g. g grandfather from his marriage certificate, however when i looked for his birth certificate it seems to be nowhere to be found. Surely it cant have dissapeared!
