is there anywhere else online that you can check entries on the 1901 census apart from http://www.census.pro.gov.uk/? i ended up wasting money on it as i couldnt find the info i needed within the 48 hours. seems crazy that they only give you that long |

you can download the decoder. It won't give addresses but you can check everyone in the household with the same name. go on "google" census decoder and it will give the web site Kim |

Julie You dont need to pay to search the index on 1901. Find all of the people you want first, before you pay. That way your 48 hours wont dwindle away. Also, dont forget to end session between times. The county record office or main library for the particular area will have the 1901 census on microfiche where you can search for free. No index though, you have to trawl through. If you need to travel though, the online one is cheaper Margaret |

Julie I agree entirely with Margaret. In addition, if you buy the vouchers, which don't cost anymore and which you can order over the phone you will not have the 48 hour problem. Nor will you have the minimum 5 pound charge issue. Address and tel no is: Census Helpdesk PO Box 1901 Malvern WR14 3YB Tel 0044 (0)1684 585298/9 for credit card orders Fax 0044 (0)1684 585375 for queries Email v o u c h e r s (a t) c e n s u s h e l p d e s k (.) c o (.) u k for queries (removing brackets as always and replacing "at" with the proper "at" symbol) Hope this helps Simon in Munich |
