Margaret, Thank you, cant remember where in Scotland my Dad said his Dad was from.I only have a rough idea of his birth, got his marriage cert today(married in Liverpool) and have found on 1837 what I think could be his death(London),but there is about a five year difference in the age ,also the Christian name on his marriage cert may not be what he was Christened,so its not looking promising. Hi All, Family Search does not cover the 1881 cesus for Scotland. I have it on disks. If you let me have the relevant details of who you are looking for I will gladly look it up for you. Scotlands People is the best site that you will find for your Scottish research. Just shout if you need any help. Regards Margaret

Hi, I just tried family.search.org for my lot in scotland and they don't appear to be on the 1881 census. However, haven't tried this IGI thing whatever that may be?? Pam

Hi Kathleen, Have you tried familysearch.org it is free and does census and IGI for british isles. There is also scotlandspeople.gov.uk this is pay per view £6 for 30 credits. There are also lots of family history web sites for different counties that might be of use to you. Marc
