Hi Marc, You are right! It does help to air a gripe like the one I had recently with Ancestry.com. I e-mailed them twice and they didn't respond. I phoned Provo, Utah and had to hold for 30 minutes so you can imagine my desperation when I FINALLY got thru! The guy must've felt sorry for me cos he gave me an extra month on my subscription as compensation!! Not had the 'phone bill yet, tho!!

Kim, I emailed some saved images from my work account to my home account; unfortunately the viewer is system specific (PC at work and a Mac at home) so I ended up printing them off at work so I could have a copy at home. What a surprise, from almost unreadable I had hardcopies that were readable!! I’m glad I had the original problem now, as I would never have bothered trying to print them otherwise. Try printing off one image and see if it improves. HTH Ian Ian . Laidlaw at ntlworld . com

Kim i think you should email them again and complain about the lack of response from them as well as the poor image. They could at least have the decency to email you to let you know something is getting done about it! Thanks to everyone who replied to this Marc.

I downloaded a birth register image from sctolandspeople and I was incredibly lucky - the relevant entry was second on the page and all the others below were illegible. It looked as though the image had been jolted while it was being scanned.

I mailed scotlands people to say that I was delighted with the info I had got from the site and also got some credits added to my account. its a very user friendly site.

Hi everyone, I recently viewed the image of a certificate on scotlands people for my great granmother's birth. The only part i could make out (just) was her name. I decided to email them to complain about the image. I was surprised and pleased to get a reply within 24 hours. I am now to receive a copy of the certificate by snail mail free of charge and have my 5 credits that it cost to view the image credited back to my account. So if you are not happy with what you see, complain! Marc.
