Tricia No you're not missing anything before the changes were madeif you searched for males then females you could then sort them by id number to find out who was in the same household. Now unless you search for them all in one search, which isn't always allowed as there is simply to many names, then they don't appear as a household anymore

Marie-Ann, it's not perfect but it is helpful for people with common names. Like my Robert Thomases - thousands of them, but few father-and-son combos (which was what I was after).

Andy I noticed this a few days ago the decoder is now useless unless you find the whole household in the same search.Just another way to get money out of us I suppose. There was comments about this on another thread Shelli

I'm probably raking up old news here, as the following was made aware on the 3rd January 2004. However, I just came across it and thought it interesting and relevant to those of us who you use the decoder. It is listed on the censusdecoder website. Quote "It would appear the PRO dirty tricks department have been working overtime and that the Person ID's we have been relying upon have been altered for no obvious technical reason. They are no longer valid for anything other than the current session which means you cannot build up a database of persons expecting to be able to use that information to come to a reasoned decision regarding which images to pay for & download. [It also seems likely that the sessions are being restricted to no more than two hours.] Please do not complain to the author - it is the PRO who need to be reminded who pay their wages although I am sure they will state we should not be using internal numbers generated by their code. If that was the case then they should never have generated them in the first place." End quote I have been using the decoder a little bit recently and have noticed that its usefulness appears to be undermined by the fact that the Person IDs seem to have less relevance than before. Anyone else noticed this?
