Hi I'm looking for any info anyone might have about William Jacob Wilson. Probable Birth date June 1890. He was the last town crier of Birmingham! He was also my Gt Grandfather :) I'm hoping to get to Warstone Cemetery in the Jewellery Quarter next week to find his headstone, just wondered in the meantime if any of you history buffs had come across this guy. Thanks Sioux

Hi April, Yup, have followed that route :) Spent about 3 hours searching the other day! But there's next to nothing about him on the net :( I was just hoping that there may be a Birmingham history buff amongst you all :) You can pay for a guided tour of Warstone Cemetery and by all accounts hear about him then! Don't fancy that though. So I've emailed B'ham library archives and am hoping they will reply. I'm trying to arrange a flying visit to the Cemetery next week, so hope to photograph any inscriptions then. Thanks for replying Sioux

Thank you for replying joan, I've had a reply from Arthur Smith who's incharge of Birmingham Walks, and he informs me that Jacob Wilson deid in 1882 aged 82! Which by reconing would make him a few more greats than I thought :) It would make him somewhere in the region of my Gt x 4 or 5 Grandfather. Have been advised to aproach Birmingham Archives in the Central Library as they have more details. Arthur did forward me a copy of his Obituary but it was a photocopy of a photo copy which had been scanned and was pretty illedgable sadly. So more hunting to do :) Sioux
