Judy. last week, there was a lot about the Norvarg virus, and to download, a program , then it would clear it if you should get it. I put it on disc(Floppy) just in case tho my Virus checkers are up to date So yesterday tried to check the disc and it needed a file, pol to open it, so it is quite useless Any advice please. Joan

Joan: Norvarg is a virus....I'm not sure by what you mean when you say you downloaded a Norvarg checker. Do you mean you downloaded something that would check your computer for the Norvarg virus? Is what you downloaded a program you downloaded from the internet or a program you purchased? I can see no reason for having a program that checks for the Norvarg virus as your anti virus program, assuming you have an anti virus program on your computer, would check for this virus. If this is a program downloaded from the internet, I would assume that the manufacturer is praying on the fears of computer users who don't know much about viruses and anti virus programs to get you to download their program. Although I have no doubt the program would check your computer for the Norvarg virus, if the download was from the internet, I'm sure it was their way to add spyware to your computer. If you have an anti virus on your computer, like Norton Anti-Virus, McAfee, AVG, etc....I, personally, would simply remove the program you've added and then run a program, like Adaware, to find and remove any spyware. I would also make sure that I updated anti virus definitions and do a full system scan....something that should be done at least once a week, anyway. Keep in mind, if you installed a program, use the computers uninstall feature to remove it from your computer.....Don't just delete it. If you just downloaded the program, and did not install it, it is safe to just delete the downloaded file. Any questions or problems, feel free to give me a shout. Judy :)

I have downloaded the Norvarg checker from info on here but it won,t open when I put the floppy disc in, to run it. I thought I would give it a try just in case. I think it has to be opened by a pol file Please tell me how to do this Joan
