Hi, I believe that people could be sent back to where they had or held apprenticeships (is that the right word?). I noted that from the a2a. In that case there may have been other reasons why they were thought to have connections with another place. Perhaps it was work related. Helena |

Hi Jane and Helena, Thanks for getting back to me. I found these particular quarter sessions when I typed an ancestor's surname into Google, as Helena mentioned. Not sure if they're mine but they come from the right place so probably related somehow. I wanted to know why they were removed, if that's the case then, from Rochester to Bristol, and what reason there might have been for moving whole families hundreds of miles. I don't think they had any link with Bristol. Thanks, Helen |

Hi Jane, You can look at quarter sessions on the a2a site. It is www.a2a.pro.gov It can be very amusing. I have found quite a lot of my rellies on there. As well as quarter sessions it gives you ref to all sots of info held in the country. I found ref to some mortgage deeds and an old lease on there. I got to view them at Worcester county hall. Thrilling to hold the documents your ancestors signed. One was over two hundred years old. Have fun! HelenaX |

What are Removals, something I noticed lots of whilst looking at some quarter session records on-line? Thanks, Helen |
