Hi Hilary, thanks for the advice, I think this could be my William, I will have a look on the 1901 census. I think you're right about the bleaching. I have had a look again and I think the first word says Plank. Is plank a part of a hat? Thank you for the information about the birth. Lucia

Being married to Waller from Herts myself, I have spent hours pouring over William Wallers! I think your William Arthur Waller was born in Q4 1881 in Luton (see FREEBMD). This would make him 19 in the 1901 census - then as you will see he was living with his family and like them working in the local factory as a STRAW HAT PACKER. Maybe by 1905 he had moved on to bleaching the materials? Hope that helps, Hilary

Hello Ann, the name of the father is William Arthur Waller, I have tried looking for him on the 1901 census, but William Waller seems to be a common name in Luton area. Lucia

Could it say clorox bleach? Not sure if this is a brand name but I have heard the phrase. Maybe your ancestor worked at the factory where it was made?

Hello, I have a birth certificate for 1906 and I can't read the occupation of the father. Can anyone help? All I have is, _ l_ _ _ x Bleach_ _ _ labourer. I would appreciate any suggestions. Lucia
