Georgina: I've just been playing with the program and you can tell your husband that he and I were both incorrect. You can send the file, the way you want. When you go to send the file, make sure the program is closed (meaning you don't have it open or minimized on your screen. When you go to attach it to the e-mail, when the box appears for you to search for the name of the file, that in the second field at the bottom of this box, FILES OF TYPE, that ALL FILES is showing....use the little arrow at the end of the field to find that choice. You'll then have no trouble finding and attaching the file to be sent. In order for the receiver to be able to view what you are sending, they will need the Genopro program installed on their computer in order to view the information. Sorry for screw up! Judy

Hi Judy, Thanks for that information. I'm grateful for the information but not that my husbands right - he never is. He did convert it into an Html report file but when I sent it and checked my sent item in Outlook Express. When I opened the attachment I got one of those Internet Error Pages saying try refresh etc. He said if she saves it first she will be able to open it. Please tell me he is wrong I don't want to let him be right twice in one day. I'd rather send it to him in the post. By the way, I have just made contact with a relative in Canada - if she has GenoPro how would I send it to her. You seem to be kept busy full time on this site with peoples problems. So a big thank you. Georgina Georgina

Georgina: You're husband is correct, you can't send the tree in the form you want to. You can, however, copy the tree onto a floppy disk or CD and snail mail the tree to her. She would then need to also have the Genopro program on her computer as well in order to view and input onto the tree. The only way to e-mail it would be to turn the data into a .ged formatted file....and she would then receive only text. Judy

Malcom, Judy and Rob, I think I am completely misunderstanding this GenoPro. I told you I am no good at technology. I just wanted to e-mail my sister with the tree as I see it on my screen i.e. lines, boxes etc. However, my husband says that this is not possible unless the person receiving it has GenoPro as well but I can send it in report form. I have done what Judy and Rob said but still nobody can access it. What am I doing wrong. Can I send them anything if they haven't got GenoPro themselves. Could I cut and paste it into a word document and then send it. Georgina

Georgina.....I use Genopro and love it! I think I may know why this isn't working. You didn't mention what, if any, of what Bob advised worked. Bob's directions are right on the money. Before you do what he advises though, when you bring up the Genopro program and you have the grid in front of you, click your mouse in any white area.....you have to make sure that none of the names are highlighted.....which one usually is when you open the program. Then follow Bob's directions.....it will then create the .ged file for you. Are you having difficulty finding the file, perhaps, once the program is generated? Any questions, feel free to give me a holler. Judy

Hi Georgina Had a look at their website and found a discussion about this on: http://www.genoclub[.]com/billboard/board.html The key instruction to exactly your question was: "Easiest "idiot proof" method would be to open your existing genopro file, then click in TOOLS ... EXPORT GEDCOM ... and select the name to save as ... once saved ... attach the *.ged file to your email the same way as any other email attachment" Hope this is of some use Bob

I have produced my family tree on genopro. Can I convert it to a format that I can then e-mail to my sister on Outlook Express. I thought Gedcom would do this but my husband has tried and says it won't work. Family argument. If I can would someone give me step by step instructions as I am not too good at understanding this technology. Georgina
