Could anyone tell me how you might go about finding more siblings of a relative? I’m back as far as an 1834 birth – once all my info has been confirmed. What I want to know is, how might I find any other members in that family without ‘proper records’? Is it a case of trawling through Baptism entries etc? Being new to all this I don’t know. Thanks Sioux

Hi Sioux, Have you used www.familysearch.org yet? If you type in the person that have and click on the name, you should see a batch no. Click on that and you will be taken back to the search page. Type in the surname only and click search and, if there are any siblings it will come up with everyone with that batch no. which should, in theory, be the family of your person. It's just a matter of elimination then. Good luck.

Hello Souix, If you have a fathers full name and the mothers christian name, log on to IGI...Search. At the top right, enter the fathers full name, e.g. Bert Bloggs, beneath, mothers first name, specify a time period or area if neccesary, and click on "search" that will give you all the children of parents with those two names. Good luck. John R.

Not everybody is on the IGI. A lot of mine are not on the IGI. Many churches refused to let the LDS have the records. Your best bet is to get your folks on the 1841 Census to find the county of birth and to obtain marriage/birth/death cert of those nearest 1837 to find actual place of birth and then to go to the parish records at the County Record Office that you are interested in. Not all records are on Free BMD but you could try either local big library to access GRO on fiche, Family Record Centre in London or 1837 Online which is a pay to view site. Janet
